Review: Zoes Kitchen

zoe kitchenZoe’s Kitchen finally opened up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I love eating fresh food and not having it be so complicated. Living in bigger cities, it is  much easy to find great options for the health conscious crowd like Whole Foods, Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurants and Co-Ops. Living in Fayetteville,  there are a few restaurants that gives healthy options for vegetarians, vegans and healthy eaters on the go!

Zoe’s Kitchen is the remedy for all the above!  Zoe’s Kitchen, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama with 71 locations around the country has answered my prayers.  Today ,I had the opportunity to go and try out the tasty offerings of Zoe’s Kitchen and I really loved it.

When you first walk in , it is an open bright place with space and seating for however many you bring along.  The decor has its motto and explanations of some of the ingredients used. The menu is Mediterranean inspired fast casual dining with an emphasis on fresh everything!

I ordered a Greek Chicken Pita with Baked Chips. The ingredients were Grilled Chicken, feta, Caramelized Onions and green lettuce inside of the pita, The meat was seasoned great and the caramelized onions were the best I  have had in a while.

What I like about Zoe’s Kitchen is that it has vegetarian  and vegan options like Spinach Roll-ups, Veggie Kabobs, Hummus with Pita and more. There are also Gluten Free options as well. The prices are very reasonable, so you are not breaking the bank. I also thought it was great that they have unsweetened Hibiscus Green Tea as a beverage choice, along with regular sweetened and unsweetened tea. They have great side choices such as  braised white beans, seasonal fresh fruit, pasta salad and additional choices if needed. If you are looking for fries, you won’t find it in the building.

I give my experience: A+++

Now I have a fast, casual restaurant with my health and thighs in mind!

Farmer’s Market : My Favorite Place to get Veggies

Farmer's Market 3 Farrmer's Market 2 Farmer's Market 4 Farmer's Market(3)I love going to the Farmer’s  Market. Wherever I live, my first assignment is to find where I can get healthy foods. I recently have been trying to eat as fresh as possible to get healthy and to lose a few pounds. Everyone knows the drill , walk the perimeter of the grocery store to eat great! On those aisles,  you will find where the clean eating ingredients are. Apples, Oranges, and Pears, Oh My! There is nothing that tastes better than fresh spinach, kale , collard greens or sweet potatoes.

It costs more to eat healthy than to eat badly ie. Dollar Menus at any drive thru or any weekly special at the favorite pizza place. Eating healthy can break the bank especially if you eat organic. I have the answer to the question of getting on board!

Farmer’s Market are one of the best ways to getting on the healthy train without busting the bank.

My favorite Farmer’s Market is Reilly Road Farmer’s Market  , 445 N. Reilly Road, 910-868-9509.

On any given day you arrive you see rows of fresh vegetables and fruit. For 30 years, this small market has been giving the community varieties of seasonal goodness. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you might get a chance to sample some of their juicy peaches fresh off the truck.  Plump plums, Delicious Apples, Watermelons and the list goes on. Vegetables and Fruits are not the only things found at the market. You can find one of a kind products like seasonings, jams and natural foods made locally or nationally.  One of the major brands carried is the Amish Weddings Food Products.

Amish Wedding Food Products are all natural food products made in the the Amish Community in Ohio. The name Amish Wedding Food is about traditionally preparing food for an Amish wedding takes about a year to make everything perfect ! I picked up 3 bags of their all natural pastas made from vegetables.

What I would normally spend at my local grocer’s for one bag, I am able to walk with several bags for less that $30 dollars.

Farmer’s markets are best kept secrets  filled with lots of goodies that are organically grown, less pesticides and it just makes you feel good when you bring home your finds.

Where do you discover fresh produce?
